old-man

Yup. February 22nd, 1970. I know, everyone has birthdays. I’ve had a bunch of them. But this one is REALLY bugging me. I mean, keeping me up at night bugging me. I still feel 25. Actually, I still feel 15. I just can’t get over the fact that I’m 40 now. That’s an adult. A grownup. ME! I’M a grownup?! Oh, if people only knew. LOL. I can no longer wear my baseball caps backwards. Should the word “Dude” be removed from my vocabulary? I have two kids and a wife that rely on me. I thought by 40 I’d have this life we live figured out. I don’t. I’m winging it. With that said, here’s my list of top 10 things I’ve learned in my 40 years.

10. If you don’t know how to fix something, hire someone to do it correctly. It will be MUCH cheaper in the long run.

9. Not everybody is going to like you. That’s ok. Just go with it.

8. Family should be more important than work.

7.  It’s just money. The people in your life are worth WAY more than any number in your bank account.

6. You can choose sides if you want to, but in the end, a politician is a politician.

5. Sometimes the journey is more fun than the destination.

4. Books are cool.

3. Jesus is cool.

2. Asking for help when you need it is ok.

1. I owe more to my parents than I could ever repay.

football

I’m not a sports guy. I don’t see a reason too fake it for one game. I could only name one dude from either team last night and that’s because he’s in a bunch of commercials for Sony. Oh, one of those guys is dating one of those Kardasian people too. Saw that in the gossip rags. Anyway,  I realized my unsportsman like attitude last year when I was standing backstage with Jessica Simpson and had no idea her boyfriend at the time (quartback for the cowboys)  was standing next to me. I guess the cowboys tracksuit he was wearing didn’t ring a loud enough bell with me. It’s not that I hate sports, it’s just not my thang. To each his own. You dig the game, I’ll be reading a book or playing with my kids.  So I tuned in to catch the national anthem with Carrie Underwood, then CLICK, it was on to my TiVo to get caught up on 30 rock, How I met your mother and the office. By the way, I heard it thru the grapevine that Carrie was the first person in YEARS to sing it live. You can check it out here.

“But what about all those great commercials?” Well, apparently most of them sucked from what people are saying on my facebook. Anything worth seeing can be watched here . I saw the good ones on the news this morning.  I know, how unamerican and girly of me to not be interested.

After pointing and laughing at Billy Kidd at Nola’s for the Danny Gokey show, my sister Lisa calls WBEE to defend herself.  And, we launch into our “schtick.”
